I am guessing you’ve probably noticed there hasn’t been a new episode of the Falling in Love with God’s Word Podcast in 2015. (Or maybe you haven’t!) Along with every new year comes time for looking back, evaluating, looking ahead, and planning.
As much as I enjoy creating the podcast, my gut tells me I need to focus my efforts on other things right now. This does not mean I will be deleting the podcast (you can find all the episodes here) and it does not mean there will never be a new episode (there will be).
What it does mean is I won’t be recording a new episode every other week (as I have the last 18 months). It also means the format and content may very well change.
Since I deeply value you and am honored that you give your time to this blog and podcast, I wanted to collect your input before determining exactly what the Falling in Love with God’s Word Podcast will look like moving forward.
Would you do me a huge favor and take 60 seconds to answer three questions in the survey below?
For those of you who like the background story…
Why I am making the change
Over the last month of looking back and planning ahead, I have heard a quote from two different sources. One is a blogger writing about focusing efforts, increasing impact, and setting goals. The other is Stephen King (yes, the author of scary books) in his book On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft.
Both of these guys were quoting William Faulkner when he said this…
You need to be willing to kill your darlings.”
In all three cases, they were talking about getting rid of something you love. It’s not about weeding out the things you don’t like. It’s about doing what you’re called to do.
I like the podcast. People tell me they like the podcast. As of today, 23,784 people have downloaded the podcast. (Blows me away!)
Quite simply: I sense God wants me to focus my time and efforts in other places.
First – I am in the middle of a wonderfully exciting time beta testing my upcoming video-based eCourse: Relational Bible Study. (Stay tuned. You’re going to love it!)
Second – I want to create more resources – eBooks, videos, short eCourses, etc. – that I can give away here on the blog.
Third – More interviews with amazing people. I have had the chance over the last year (and in the coming months) to connect at some conferences with terrific leaders from all over the country. Each of them has a specific area of passion and expertise when it comes to passing on faith to the next generation, technology and faith, protecting your kids online, and lots of other crucial areas.
I will be using some of my time interviewing them – via email, phone, and Skype – and sharing those interviews with you. (And yes, when possible, I will be releasing those interviews as new podcast episodes!)
Finally – My new book – How to Enjoy Reading Your Bible – is coming out in May and I want to make sure I have time to promote it, engage with the launch team (more on how to be a part of that next month!), write guest posts, and do occasional interviews.
I could go on writing about calling, goal-setting, making plans, being flexible, and my hopes for 2015, but that’s enough for today.
For now, I would greatly appreciate it if you would give me your feedback and input about the podcast.
Can you take 60 seconds to help me out?

Thank you so much. I look forward to everything 2015 has in store.
